Indonesia Coffee Exports Hit New Record in European Market

Indonesia’s coffee exports reached a new record in the first half of 2025, with shipments hitting 190,000 tons to European markets. This growth reflects rising consumer interest in Indonesian specialty beans like Gayo, Toraja, and Mandailing.

According to the Ministry of Trade, coffee exports rose by 18% compared to the same period last year. The highest demand came from Germany, the Netherlands, and France, who praised Indonesia’s coffee for its rich aroma and complex flavor profile.

Sustainability is also a key driver. Many Indonesian producers have adopted organic farming and fair-trade practices, which are highly valued by international buyers. This highlights that coffee exports are now about ethical and environmental standards, not just volume.

The government has supported the sector through export financing, farmer training programs, and international promotions. These efforts aim to cement Indonesia’s position as one of the world’s top premium coffee exporters.

This success not only boosts Indonesia’s share in the global coffee market but also helps improve the livelihoods of coffee farmers across the archipelago.
