Indonesian Furniture Exports Thrive Amid Global Uncertainty
Indonesia’s furniture exports are experiencing strong growth amid ongoing global economic uncertainty. In the second quarter of 2025, furniture export values rose by 12% compared to the same period last year, according to data from the Indonesian Furniture and Craft Industry Association (ASMINDO).
Key markets showing increased demand include the United States, Australia, and several European countries such as Belgium and France. The most sought-after products are teakwood furniture, natural rattan pieces, and minimalist designs infused with Southeast Asian tropical aesthetics.
This growth is fueled by global trends that increasingly prioritize eco-friendly materials and sustainable design. As a tropical country with abundant wood and rattan resources, Indonesia benefits greatly from this shift. Local artisans have also begun innovating in finishing, ergonomic design, and packaging.
The government has supported the sector by simplifying export procedures, promoting Indonesian products at international trade shows, and providing financing access for SMEs in the furniture industry. Additionally, digital platforms and international e-commerce channels have expanded Indonesia’s furniture reach into new markets.
This furniture export surge not only boosts national foreign exchange but also creates jobs in local manufacturing and creative industries. Amid global economic slowdown, this sector plays a vital role in sustaining Indonesia’s non-oil and gas exports.
